TravelLGBT CommunityEvents

The annual event returns on May 17th drawing attention to the discrimination and violence experienced by the LGBTI community to policymakers, the public and the media.

Established in 2004, IDAHO has become the single most important date for the LGBT community to assemble on a worldwide scale. It is celebrated in more than 130 countries, including 37 where same-sex acts are still illegal.

May 17th was chosen to honour the World Health Organisation’s decision in 1990 to declassify homosexuality as a mental disorder.

Keep an eye out for the UK Human Rights Office launching their music video, ‘Why We Fight’ which is a tribute to global activism and includes footage of individuals, families, advocates and allies in countries around the world. Last years video was watched by an estimated 10 million people.

Check out the website to see how you can take action and for any further information.
