Emerald Life to Fund Stonewall Role Model Programme

Immediate

Emerald Life, the UK’s dedicated insurance provider for the LGBT community, today announces its support for lesbian, gay, bi and trans equality charity Stonewall, and its Role Models Programme.

Emerald Life has committed to funding one of these programmes, which will empower young people to step up and be role models, and learn about how to create an inclusive environment at work and in their communities.

The programme offers active listening skills and techniques for having productive conversations, practical ways to step up as an LGBT role model, increased motivation and confidence to be a visible and influential role model and develop a network of LGBT peers from across a range of sectors.

86 per cent of participants from previous programmes agreed that the course helped them to create positive change in their workplace.

The support for the programme comes as part of Emerald’s core commitment to supporting grassroots LGBT equality work.

Steve Wardlaw, Chairman, Emerald Life said: “Stonewall is a superpower where LGBT equality is concerned. We are thrilled to be supporting them by sponsoring this Role Model programme. We know the delegates of the course will return to their respective environments and play a major part in creating more inclusive workplaces. We are pleased to be helping and supporting Stonewall create a better tomorrow for LGBT people.”

This is the fourth charity partnership announced by Emerald Life since its launch earlier this year. As well as sponsoring this Role Model Programme, the insurance provider also partners with Diversity Role Models to provide whole-school anti-homophobia training to a South London school. Beyond this, the insurance provider supports the LGBT parenting organisation P3 and has an intern program with the Albert Kennedy Trust, a charity working with homeless LGBT young people.

Nick Corrigan, Director of Empowerment Programmes at Stonewall said: “Visible LGBT role models are a vital means for empowering individuals and changing hearts and minds. Stonewall’s Role Models Programme does just that, and gives lesbian, gay, bi and trans people across Britain the tools to inspire and support others, and work towards a world where all LGBT folk are accepted without exception.

“We are thrilled that Emerald Life has so generously supported one of these programmes, which will no doubt contribute to real positive change for lesbian, gay, bi and trans equality.”

Emerald Life launched in March 2016 and offers a range of insurance products specifically designed with the LGBT community in mind. To find our more visit www.emeraldlife.co.uk. For more information on Stonewall visit www.stonewall.org
